Thursday 7th March

World Book Day is the 7th March and it’s a great opportunity to have a bit of fun in the nursery and school, both for the kids and the adults 😉

Dress Up
All children are invited to dress up as a character from their favourite book and can carry that book with them during the day if they wish. I would encourage you, where possible, not to go and buy a costume but to recycle or let your child make their own. We do not want to create an additional cost for families so please do not feel any pressure to spend money. All the kids need is their imagination and I am sure they’ll be able to put something together from clothing they already have.

Lunch
We have organised a World Book Day themed lunch for the kids titled The Pupils who came to Tea. If you speak with your child the night before about lunch options please keep this in mind.

The menu for the day will be:

Blue meal – Charlotte and Wilbur’s chicken goujons with chips (Charlotte’s web – E.B White)
Red meal – George’s Marvellous Creamy Tomato Pasta (George’s Marvellous Medicine – Roald Dahl)
Green meal – The Hobbit’s Ham roll (The Hobbit – J.R.R Tolkien)
All served with the Lion and Witches selection of vegetables (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – C.S Lewis)
Dessert – Zog’s Chocolate Tiffin (Zog – Julia Donaldson)

Activities
Children will take part in reading themed activities during their day and will receive a visit from myself to read them a story of their choice.

World Book Day is always a great photo opportunity and we will aim to share pictures from each class on our social media channels. I am aware that Cross Country and P5 swimming is on this day also, which isn’t ideal, but these children will still be able to join in on their return.

Hopefully the children will have a fun filled day which helps to inspire a love of reading.

Kindest regards
